February 1996, I played a vital role in the HIV Awareness Project with Care
International in Bangladesh. In this multifaceted position, I seamlessly
combined my skills in drawing, illustration, story writing, and concept
development to contribute to the project's overall success. This encompassed
the entire project lifecycle, from initial pitching to comprehensive project
coordination with clients and project workers. My responsibilities extended to
conducting extensive research and interviews with hundreds of sex workers
operating in the Dark Streets and Parks of the capital city, Dhaka.
Innovatively, I developed a new concept aimed at preventing HIV in Bangladeshi
sex workers and their clients through the promotion and usage of female
condoms. My role further involved illustrating and refining these ideas,
implementing the outcomes in collaboration with field workers, and executing
them through projector slide shows and workshops. The success of this endeavor
was contingent on effective coordination with sex workers, clients, field
workers, and project directors, collectively achieving the project's goals and
promoting the successful use of female condoms for HIV prevention.
